On Sunday, November 7, at high noon, the Hoosick Falls Lady Panthers and the Greenwich Witches field hockey teams lined up for a duel on a sunny, crisp day. Coming into the match both teams had one loss on the season, to this day’s opponent. With a large crowd from both home towns cheering their respective teams on, every player on the field gave it everything they had.
Greenwich’s Dani DeGregory would draw first blood with a goal at 7:06 left until the half, giving the Witches 1-0 lead. Hoosick Falls would score on a goal by Amanda Lewsey at the 18:11 mark of the second

half. The regulation portion of the game ended in a 1-1 tie, sending the game into an appropriate sudden death, 10 minute overtime period. In the OT, Hoosick Falls controlled the game with 5 shots on the Greenwich goal. But with 2:11 left in the period, Greenwich moved the ball quickly down the field with DeGregory sending a screaming shot into the HF goal, ending the contest with a 2 – 1 Greenwich victory.
Stats: Shots on Goal HF – 7, G – 4; Penalty Corners HF – 6, G – 8. In three games, Greenwich scored 5 goals against the Panthers, the only goals the Panthers surrendered during the entire season. Hoosick Falls ends the season with a fine 17 – 2 record.
