Hoosick Falls Field Hockey Undefeated After Nine Games

Update

On Monday, September 20, HFCS Field Hockey played Warrensburg at home. HF sailed to a 5-0 victory to bring their season record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in League play. Goals by senior Samantha Skott, with an assist from Freshman Carsen Williams, by junior Hailey Bugbee, with an assist from senior Karley Morin, and by senior Alyssa Schneider made it 3-0 at half time. In the second half Skott gave an assist to Williams for a goal and then Skott assisted Morin to make the score 5-0. HF had a 15-2 edge in shots and a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners. HF Sophomore Goalie Frankie Pearson had two saves on the day.

Samantha Bakaitis, center, and Amanda Lewsey draw the goalie out of goal in an exciting, hard fought battle of the undefeated. The Lady Panther field hockey team prevailed over the Greenwich Witches 1-0 on the HFCS field Wednesday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, Karley Morin, with an assist from Amanda Lewsey, scored with a shot from the top of the circle with about 20 minutes left in the game. That would be all the scoring the Panthers would need to win and take sole possession of first place in the WASAREN league. A great team effort was needed, and that was exactly what they gave. HF goalie Frankie Pearson performed flawlessly with four saves. The Lady Panthers now have a 9-0 record and have outscored their opponents 31-0. Photo and caption by Steve Bradley.

On Wednesday, September 22, HF traveled to Lake George and trounced them 6-0. Lake George is 0-5 for the season. Alyssa Schneider and Amelia Reynolds had two goals each. Hailey Bugbee and Allison Philpott had one each. Samantha Skott had two assists, and Karley Morin had one. HF Goalie Frankie Pearson had one save. Lake George’s Carrie Stewart had eight saves. This was Pearson’s seventh shutout.
On Friday, September 24, the HFCS Varsity Field Hockey team had its eighth straight win for the season taking Schuylerville 6-0. Samantha Skott and Karley Morin had two goals each. Rachel Quackenbush and Alyssa Schneider had one each, and Carsen Williams had two assists. The defense made goalie Frankie Pearson’s job easy as she didn’t have to make a single save.
Coach Campbell Gets 200th Victory
The win against Schuylerville was the 200th win for Coach Denise Campbell. Coach Campbell has coached Field Hockey at HFCS since 1998. Her record is 200-45-1. In those 12 years her teams have been League Champions eight times, Section II finalists once, Regional Finalists once and Regional Champions three times. In 2001 and 2002 her teams had 17 consecutive wins. Her teams have been scholar athletes for the past three years and last year won the League Sportsmanship Award.
Campbell, a HFCS alum and Field Hockey player, had 43 career goals from 1988 to ’90. In 1990 she set the school record with 23 goals for a season. That record was tied last year by Samantha Skott.
