HFCS Boys Soccer Loses A Close One

October 1, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Julie Luciano
The Hoosick Falls and Hoosic Valley boys soccer teams scored all three goals of the game in the first 10 minutes. Two goals were scored by Hoosic Valley’s J.T. Sawyer and Hal Kilmartin.  Hoosick Fall’s PJ Priore followed their goals with the assist from Chris LaCroix. The teams turned out to have pretty equal skill level, with the ball mostly in the middle of the field rather than on one team’s half for the whole game.  The Indians mistakenly got a hand ball in the box which led to a penalty kick for the Panthers. Senior Will Luke took the kick and HV goalie Colin Balkwell got his hands on the ball enough to save the shot.

As the ball was fumbling around in the box, HF players came crashing down on the ball in hopes of tying up the game. Unfortunately for the Panthers an Indian player got a foot on the ball and kicked it out. Late in the second half Luke sent a corner kick right to Priore’s head; it looked like it was a definite goal, but out of nowhere came Balkwell and grabbed it out of the air.  The Indians topped Hoosick Falls 2-1 in a very close game.
