For the second year in a row Girl Scout Troop 1174 from the Berlin School District has been collecting used batteries, ink cartridges and cell phones for recycling. Over 80 pounds of batteries were recycled at the Rensselaer County Hazardous Waste Collection Day on September 18. The ink cartridges were donated to the Berlin High School for a fund raiser while the cell phones have been sent to “Cell Phones for Soldiers” as well as to “Connect to the Cure.”
The Troop will continue to collect used batteries, ink cartridges and cell phones at the Stephentown Memorial Library, Berlin Free Library and Bank of America in Berlin.
