The Petersburgh Public Library summer reading program has been completed. A party celebrating the reading done by all ages was held on August 18 which included music with Floyd Smith and Martha von Schilgen. Thirty five children and teens completed the reading requirements. Younger children read 347 books and older children and teens read 19,506 pages. All the children who completed the program were awarded a certificate, canvas tote bag, sports bottle and two books of their choosing.
In addition this summer a reading program for adults was featured with adults reading 285 books. For each book read adults could enter their name and the title of the book into drawings for various prizes. The prizes were donated by Teresa DeWaal, Lori Hamm, MaryJo Laughlin, Kathy Share and Amy Shawver, all members of the Library Board of Trustees, and Lisa Roberts donated an Avon basket which was won by Cynthia Peterson. Kathy Smith won the “Petersburgh Produce,” Lee Weliczka won the six loaves of homemade bread, Bev Sheldon won the “Bean Basket,” Heather Hicks won the Longaberger basket, Alicja Bialasiewicz won the patio basket and Lisa Roberts won the pizza dinner.
Story Hour
Pre-school story hour for the fall will begin on Tuesday, September 14, at 10 am at the Library. All pre-schoolers are invited to attend with their parents or care-giver. On Tuesday, September 21, we will have a visit from some baby chicks and stories about chickens.
