Generous Grad Treats NLCS Alumni To Dinner

July 30, 2010 By eastwickpress

by David Flint
New Lebanon Central School alumni filled the Stephentown Fire Hall on Saturday, July 17. It was the 2010 NLCS Alumni Dinner, sponsored and paid for once again by Richard Burns, Class of ’49. The generous Mr. Burns, who now resides in Shelton, CT, has picked up the tab now for the fifth straight year, and the turnout each year has, not surprisingly, been great.
This year 192 alumni and guests attended. The Dinner was catered by Mario’s Restaurant and was not just your average reunion food. Many comments were heard in praise of the excellent chicken Parmesan with roasted new red potatoes and a most delectable salad.

A bouquet of flowers was awarded to Dorothy Crego Sanford who, representing the Class of 1932, was the senior alumna registered for the Dinner. Sanford also taught in the New Lebanon Elementary School for over 30 years. At the last minute she was unable to attend, but a card and best wishes were sent to her along with the flowers.
The Class of 1960 celebrated its 50th with over 35 classmates enjoying a trip down memory lane.
The Organizing Committee comprising Mary Godfroy Young, Class of ’67, and Linda Stall Moshimer, Class of ’71, on behalf of the NLCS Alumni, extend their thanks to Mr. Burns and to the Southard family, the Cassavaugh family, the French family and the Sullivans for helping with the set up and clean up. They couldn’t have done it without their help. The Committee hopes to see a lot of new faces next year.
