Long-term Grafton Town Clerk Suzanne Putnam has announced her candidacy for the Rensselaer County Legislature in District 5, encompassing the towns of Berlin, Grafton, Hoosick, Petersburgh and Stephentown. She said, “I will work hard for all the people of District 5 just as I have for the residents of the Town of Grafton since 1986.”
Putnam has been employed as Secretary to the Town of Grafton since 1990 in addition to serving as Town Clerk since 1986. She is a member of the Rensselaer County and New York State Town Clerks Associations and the Grafton Historical Society and is a contributor to the Grafton United Methodist Church. In 2007 she was appointed Chair of the Grafton Bicentennial Celebration Committee.
Suzanne is a sixth-generation Grafton resident and a 1964 graduate of Berlin Central High School. Wife of the late Kent Putnam of Stephentown who passed away in 2005, she is the mother of Seth Putnam, also a Berlin graduate, who is an elementary school teacher residing in the Adirondacks.
Putnam said, “In addition to concern with the financial burdens placed on our residents, my foremost interests are health and safety. Listening to residents will help me carry their concerns to the County level. If elected, I intend to continue in my full time Town position and to remain close to the people of Grafton.”
