On Wednesday, Congressmen Scott Murphy (NY-20), who represents the Eastwick area among others, and Paul Tonko (NY-21) announced that President Obama will visit Hudson Valley Community College at 11 am on Monday, September 21. Several months ago the Congressmen requested that the President visit the region to highlight high-tech job creation in Upstate New York.
“I am honored to welcome President Obama to Upstate New York. It’s not every day that you can say the President of the United States is coming to your community,” said Rep. Murphy. “I came to Washington to work to create jobs and turn our economy around, and now as we work to lead our nation along the path toward economic recovery, I am proud to show how Upstate New York is a part of the solution by quickly becoming a world leader in high-tech jobs.”
“I share the President’s vision of building and growing an innovation economy,” said Rep. Tonko. “I am glad that the President recognizes the strategic importance of the Capital Region. Hudson Valley Community College is an ideal location to showcase the technical training and skills that will empower the workforce for the jobs of the future.”
