Hoosick Tire Recycling Program

August 13, 2009 By eastwickpress

The Town of Hoosick is proud to announce that Augie and Steve Brownell of Augie’s Wholesale Tires have approached the Town of Hoosick and offered the residents of Hoosick a method to dispose of and recycle their used and unwanted tires at a discounted cost. They have arranged for a portable enclosed trailer to be placed on their property located on Rte. 67 in Eagle Bridge and will allow residents to bring tires with or without the metal rims on them to be recycled. This will help prevent illegal dumping of tires and keep our roadsides free of used and unwanted tires that are left by people who have no legal method to dispose of these tires.
The cost to dispose of each tire will be $2.  Presently,  if you go buy new tires, you are charged between $3 and $5 each to have the tires disposed of by the tire supplier.
Augie’s Wholesale Tires has been in business in the Town of Hoosick for 27 years and also operate a permitted auto inspection, repair shop and salvage yard by the Town of Hoosick and New York State DMV.
During the present hard economic times that we are all facing Augie and Steve thought that this would be a great way to allow residents to save a few dollars and for their business to give a little something back to their community.
Augie’s Wholesale Tires hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm and Saturday 9 am to 12 pm. Residents are asked to call in advance to arrange a time to drop off their tires. The phone number is 686-4845.
