by Ryan Mosher
As the school sports season winds down, the spring sports championships come around. The first of the year were the Patroon Conference track championships at Taconic Hills on Thursday, May 14. The New Lebanon boys and girls teams competed, taking 8th and 10th place respectively.
Hanna Springer led the way for the girls, taking fourth place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:13.45. In the 2000m steeplechase, Springer took third place in 8:40.49. Kendra Houster took sixth place in 9:13.27. Jill Risko took seventh place in the discus for the Lady Tigers with a distance of 72 feet and 11 inches.
The boys 4x400m relay team had an excellent race, taking second place with a 3:39.86 performance. Ben Burgess, RJ Walsh, Dan Padrick and Ben Cassavaugh were the teammates for that relay. Burgess also had another second place finish, in the triple jump. His jump was 41’ 1.75”, just three inches off the winning jump. This jump once again set the school record for the New Lebanon sophomore. Bill Tavares took fourth place in the long jump with an 18’ 9.5” jump.
