Seth Foster Receives RPI Medal

May 29, 2009 By eastwickpress

Seth Foster, son of Michael and Sandy Foster of Eagle Bridge, is this year’s recipient of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal. The Medal was first presented in 1916 with two purposes – to recognize the superlative academic achievement of young men and women and to motivate students towards pursuing careers in science, engineering and technology.
The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal is awarded to promising secondary school Juniors who have distinguished themselves in mathematics and science. The student must also be ranked within the top 10% of the class, excel in advanced math and science courses and exhibit significant involvement in extracurricular activities. A scholarship, valued at $15,000 per year, is guaranteed for four years for each medalist who is accepted and enrolls at RPI.
Seth is a member of the National Honor Society, and he also enjoys playing baseball. He is a member of the varsity baseball team, the American Legion Post 13 summer baseball league team and Bennington’s fall baseball team. Seth plans to attend college in the fall of 2010, pursuing a degree in mathematics or science.
