In Chatham for a dual meet against Chatham, Doane Stuart and Rensselaer, the New Lebanon track team saw two new school records set, one in the triple jump and one in the 400m hurdles.
Ben Burgess won the triple jump with a distance of 40’ 3” setting the school record for the second time this season. Billy Joe Tavares took second place with a distance of 38’ 5”. Ben Cassavaugh set a new school record in the 400m hurdles as he took 4th place with a time of 66.3 seconds. Cassavaugh also won the high jump with a height of 5’ 2”.
Jake LeBlanc did well in the discus and shot put where he finished 2nd and 3rd with distances of 113’ 2” and 35’ 8”. Dan Padrick took second place in the 100m race with a time of 11.6 seconds. Aaron Stall took second place in the 3200m race in 10:59.9. The relay teams also did well, both taking second place. The 4×800 team consists of Aaron Stall, Dan Benson, Kosta Dillas and Campbell Lindsay, and they finished in 10:15.1. The 4×400 team was Ben Burgess, Ben Cassavaugh, Dan Padrick and RJ Walsh. They finished in 3:46.45.
Burgess Sets Record Again
New Lebanon’s Ben Burgess continued his impressive track season by breaking the school record in the triple jump for the second time within a week. At Saturday’s Maple Hill Invitational Burgess took second place with a jump of 40’ 9”. Burgess’s 18’ 8” jump in the long jump also gave him third place. Jake LeBlanc took fourth place in both the discus and the shot put at the invitational. In the discus LeBlanc threw 115’ 9” and putted 38’ 5.5” in the shot. Billy Joe Tavares took sixth place in the high jump with a jump of 5’ 6”, while Aaron Stall took 4th place in the 3200m race.
