Laura (Webster) Lohnes was born at her grandmother’s house at 6 River St. on April 7, 1909. Her parents came into the Village for the birth in case the doctor was needed. They were sure he wouldn’t be able to make it through the mud to their home and farm on Hill Road. On Tuesday Laura celebrated her 100th birthday at the Hoosick Falls Health Center with her family and friends.

Laura and her sister Marion live at the Center. They play cards together every day in Marion’s room. The two sisters married brothers. Laura’s husband was Carroll Lohnes. Marion’s husband was Harold Lohnes.
Laura graduated from high school in Blanca, CO. She and Carroll moved from Breese Hollow to Colorado in 1955. Her family said Laura loved to travel everywhere, including Hawaii and Alaska. Laura was a homemaker on the farm. She and her sister are known as great bread bakers. Laura and Carroll had two sons; Ed Lohnes lives in Colorado and Robert Lohnes passed away in December. She has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
