Grafton – Christopher D. Roberts, 58, of Shaver Pond Road, Grafton, NY, died on Friday, January 30, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Born in Beverly, MA, on November 20, 1950, he was the son of the late Mary Lou Broderick Roberts. Chris was the loving husband of Margot Mackey Roberts whom he married on July 16, 1972, in North Bennington, VT.
Being raised in the State of Maryland and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Chris graduated from Beverly High School in 1968. He enlisted into the United States Marines in 1969 serving until his honorable discharge in November of 1972 at the rank of Sergeant. After his marriage, he lived in Beverly while attending North Shore Community College.
Chris worked his adult life in the computer industry. Early on, he worked with both hardware and software. He was very knowledgeable and worked for many years as a self-employed computer consultant. In later years he worked with Fleet Bank, now Bank of America, as a senior computer technician working within their home banking department. Chris considered computers as his hobby, along with reading.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Margot, his children, Tiffany S. and husband Thomas Sullivan Jr. of Grafton, Mac C. and wife Karen Roberts of Berlin, NY, Broderick J. “BJ” Roberts of Grafton, Marine Corporal Jedediah D. and his wife Ana Roberts of Stafford, VA, his grandchildren, Cole X. Roberts, Kendra A. Roberts, Macayla M. Roberts, Axiana M. Sullivan, Isabella G. Sullivan and David C. Roberts along with his in-laws Robert and Ann Mackey of North Bennington.
A Celebration of Chris’s life will be held on Sunday, February 15, at 3 pm in the Petersburgh Baptist Church, Route 22, Petersburgh, NY, where Rev. J. Mark Norlund, pastor, and Rev. Douglas Turner will officiate. Inurnment with full military honors will be held at a later date in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to the Church for visitation starting at 1 pm. At the conclusion of the service, family and friends are invited to the Fellowship Hall of the Church for refreshments and a time of remembrance.
