Of the three members of the Hoosick Falls Village Board whose terms where up this year, only incumbent Ben Patton chose to seek re-election.
When the votes were counted Tuesday night, March 20, Trustee Patton was the top vote getter at 123, followed closely by Craig Pine with 119. As to who will claim the third seat on the Board, it may possibly still be up in the air.
Vanessa Lewis garnered 78 votes, while Emily Marpe got 75. Those totals include all absentee ballots that were received as of Tuesday night. One more was received in the village clerk’s office on Wednesday, with the possibility more might be received yet, as long as they are postmarked by March 20.
Tom Restino had 63 votes as a write-in candidate.
Current Trustees Robert Downing and Karen Sprague chose not to run again. Mr. Downing has served on the Board for 14 years, Ms. Sprague for three.
Mr. Patton and the two new members have many important issues before them as they begin their terms. An alternate water source for the village, paying for the PFOA related expenses, as well as last year’s July 1 flooding achief among them.
