The Berlin InvenTeam placed third overall in the annual design challenge competition sponsored by General Dynamics in Pittsfield MA. This year’s design challenge theme was to engineer a device to putt a golf ball for distance and accuracy. The Berlin InvenTeam designed a device, dubbed the Mountain Putter, based on a pendulum principle to transfer potential energy to kinetic energy. It included a weight box to allow varying distances to be achieved. The Berlin InvenTeam is an engineering design group from Berlin Middle/High School whose main goal is to excite students about invention, empowering them to problem solve while encouraging an inventive culture within the school and the community.
