The anniversary celebration at the Grafton Peace Pagoda begins with a Sunrise Ceremony on Saturday, September 1, at 7 am. The ceremony includes the 17th Commemoration of Hank Hazelton, Peace Pagoda property donor, a Buddhist Sacred Ceremony, interfaith prayer and closing music.
We gather this year to celebrate the 19th anniversary of the building of the Peace Pagoda and to commemorate Hank Hazelton’s passing on September 1, 17 years ago. His vision of creating a community of people dedicated to creating a more just and peaceful world has brought so many beautiful people together during this prologue to the 20th anniversary. We will gather at sunrise, a most sacred time, to honor Hank and all who have been a part of the Grafton Peace Pagoda community over the years. We will share a potluck breakfast together after the ceremony. If getting here early is difficult you can arrange to spend the night by calling a few days ahead so we can plan.
