Food for Fines Week – Do you owe fines at the Stephentown Memorial Library? Use them to feed local pets in need! Pet food (dry or canned) will be accepted in lieu of fines the week of December 7 through December 12 . [private]Fines for overdue materials (regardless of amount) will be cleared from your record at the rate of one fine per one non-perishable, unexpired, unopened pet food donation. Only overdue items – not lost or damaged items – are eligible. All food donations will be forwarded to the Stephentown Food Pantry for distribution to needy pets in Stephentown. So clear your conscience of all those overdue books and benefit your community at the same time!
Mitten Tree – Bring your gently used or new winter accessories (mittens, gloves, hats, scarves) and hang them on the Mitten Tree at Stephentown Memorial Library. Collection will run from 12/1 through 12/18. We will donate them to a local agency for distribution to families in need. Children’s items are especially useful.
Monthly Lego Club – Friday, December 4 at 6 pm. Do you have a Lego enthusiast who could spend hours and hours every day engrossed with creative building? The Lego Club meets on a Friday night each month for an hour of building fun. There is no sign-up or charge. Donations of Lego blocks are most welcome at the library desk.
Museum Pass Program – Did you know that your library card is the key to free admission at local area museums? Use your Stephentown Memorial Library card to check out a pass to the following local museums: The Berkshire Museum, Hancock Shaker Village, MASS MoCA, and The Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute. You may call ahead to reserve a pass. One pass at a time is allowed per household and passes are checked out for two days. Passes typically admit one to four people at member level, some additional fees may apply for certain exhibits. Explore the many museums in our region with this free library cardholder benefit. If you don’t have a library card, we will be happy to issue one at no charge with proof of residency. Call or stop by the library for details.
Lost And Found – The library has an extensive collection of lost and found items that include keys, flash drives, gloves, hats, coats and more. Please stop by and claim your missing items soon. Remaining items will be donated to a local charity this week.
Make Your Own Mini Gingerbread House – Join us on Tuesday, December 15 at 6:30 pm as we make mini gingerbread houses from graham crackers. This is a great activity that is suitable for all ages, including very young children. Led by Rebekkah Corbett. This is a free activity, but we ask that you call ahead for reservations.
