Story Time – Fridays at 10 am. Calling all preschoolers (and their caregivers)! Join us each Friday for some story time fun! In this half-hour session, we read aloud, sing songs, move about, and explore the world around us through literature. Parents and children are encouraged to stay after story time so children have time for free play while grown-ups browse for books and socialize. Story Time is led by Jane Halleck, a local educator.
[private]Flashback Friday Movie Night – Join us on Friday, October 16 at 6:30 pm for Flashback Friday – fun for the whole family at the Stephentown Memorial Library. This new monthly program for all ages is a great way to spend a weekend evening. Each month we will show a fun, family friendly movie from the past. This month’s space themed movie is rated PG and the running time is 101 minutes. Free Popcorn and juice will be served. Bring your friends and enjoy the show at the Library.
Book Discussion Group – The Stephentown Library Book Discussion Group will meet on Tuesday, October 20 at 1:30 pm. They will discuss the book “The Boston Girl” by Anita Diamant. An unforgettable coming-of-age novel about family ties and values, friendship and feminism told through the eyes of a young Jewish woman growing up in Boston in the early twentieth century. Group meetings are held monthly in the Community Room at the Library. Bring a lunch if you like. Copies of the book are available at the library desk. New readers are always welcome.
Family Movie Night – Bring the family and enjoy a showing of a new release film on Friday, October 23 at 6:30 pm. This month’s movie is rated PG. Running time for this movie is 130 minutes. Popcorn and juice will be served. This event is free and all are welcome!
Teen Halloween Dance – Friday, October 30 from 7 to 9 pm at the Stephentown Fire Hall. Ride the haunted bus from Berlin Jr/Sr. High School departing at 6:45 pm and join the fun at the Fire Hall. Dance with DJ and enjoy the spooky Haunted House under the SML tent. Haunted bus will transport teens back to Berlin after the dance. Call for details. Sponsored by TRACS and Stephentown Memorial Library, along with Town of Stephentown.
SML Scream Fest – Friday, October 30 – 9 pm to Midnight.
Celebrate Halloween with a double feature of horror movies. Popcorn and seasonal refreshments will be served, Come in costume as your favorite horror movie villain or victim, if you wish. Prize for the most original costume. Try your hand at our horror trivia game. Adults and teens are welcome to this Free event. Advance registration is requested, space is limited. Signed parental consent is required for those under 17.
Stephentown Youth Halloween Party – Sponsored by the Stephentown Memorial Library and the Town of Stephentown. Young children, Pre K through 5th grade, and families are invited to the Stephentown Fire Hall on Saturday, October 31 from 1 to 3 pm for the annual Halloween Party. Fun activities for all ages will include a Haunted House under the library tent, costume contest, crafts and activities, including special activities for toddlers/preschoolers; Price of admission – one bag of candy. New this year is Trunk or Treating, an opportunity for townspeople and organizations to give out candy to our kids from the trunk of their car. Contact the library if you’d like to participate in this activity! Extra candy will be donated to troops overseas via Operation Gratitude. Also new this year is a Pumpkin Carving contest for all ages. Bring your carved pumpkin for display and judging.
