Stephentown Democrats caucused Tuesday night, September 15, at the Fire Hall to select their local candidates for the November 3 election.
[private]Leading the ticket this year will be Aldie Goodermote, running for re-election as Highway Superintendent, and Bill Jennings, running for a second full term on the Town Council. Both have served the Town well over the past several years and look forward to continuing in their posts.
Democrats are very excited about presenting two first-time candidates this year. Gerry Robinson, a retired senior manager who has lived in Stephentown for the past 12 years, will run for the currently vacant position on the Town Council. Gerry, former Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Social Services, brings a wealth of experience from a 50 year career in the planning, design and delivery of health and human services. He looks forward to joining Bill Jennings, PJ Roder and Chris Demick to form an extremely well-qualified and experienced Town Council.
Joining Gerry as a first-timer on the ticket will be Mary Grant, who will run for Tax Collector. With Ruth Rieger not seeking re-election after many dedicated years of service to the community, Mary looks forward to establishing the Tax Collector’s office in the Town Hall and modernizing many of its functions. Mary brings over 30 years of experience at Berlin Central School where she serves as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools and Clerk to the Board of Education.[/private]
