Heated Debate Over PFOA Testing

Speaker after speaker that stood to address the Poestenkill Town Council on Thursday evening, October 21, had one message: we are very concerned about the discovery of PFOA at the Algonquin Middle School and some private wells in the vicinity. Rensselaer County Health Department test results to date have found four wells to be slightly above the state limit of 10 parts per trillion (PPT), and several more at lower levels. Luxury Camping Development Proposed on East Hollow

Four Arrested On Drug Charges After Hoosick Falls Search Warrant

Petersburgh PFOA Meeting

Stephen Schwarz of the firm Faraci Lange spoke at an informational meeting in Petersburgh on Monday evening about the class action lawsuit against Taconic for compensation for PFOA contamination. Taconic has agreed to pay a total of $23.5 million in compensation. Those who are eligible include homeowners of houses in the Water District or houses whose wells have PFOA contamination in the water, and residents of houses with contaminated wells, whether they are owners or renters. Two More Wells in Poestenkill Test Positive For Higher than Permitted Levels of PFOA

The Town of Hoosick will Seek a Moratorium on Marijuana Sales Instead of Simply Opting Out

The Town Board wants more guidance from New York State and wishes to establish where such dispensaries may be located by adopting changes to the town zoning code. The Board plans to officially opt out of any on site consumption.

New Brunswick Budget Holds The Line on Taxes

Presented to the Town Board at their Thursday evening meeting, Supervisor Phil Herrington’s budget proposal calls for no change in the tax rate. Spending in the budget is up, but so are revenues, which allowed for the 0% tax change.

Two More Wells Found To Have PFOA Contamination

The Rensselaer County Department of Health reports two more wells located to the south and southeast of the Algonquin Middle School in Poestenkill, have tested positive for PFOA contamination above the state-permitted level of 10 parts per trillion.
