Grafton VFD And Ladies Auxiliary Breakfast
The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be serving an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, January 31, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), sausage gravy & biscuits, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are on the menu.
The cost is $9 per adult, $4 for kids 12 and under and free for kids five and under.

Make A Pair Of Boxer Shorts For Valentine’s Day
On Saturday, January 17, from 10 am to 2 pm the Grafton Community Library will present a free workshop in which participants can bring their own fabric and learn how to turn it into a classic five panel pair of boxer shorts to give to someone special this Valentine’s Day.
Participants supply the fabric and thread. Everything else, including directions, patterns, special sports elastic, sewing supplies, iron and ironing board, will be provided. Five sewing machines will be available. Participants are encouraged to bring their own machine if possible.
This workshop is limited to eight people. Participants must sign up in advance at the Library. Some previous sewing experience is necessary. Call the Library at 279-0580 or stop by to sign up.
Sullivan-Jones VFW Post 7466, Poestenkill Breakfast
Join us on January 11, from 8 to 11 am for our next monthly VFW Breakfast Buffet. Enjoy the regular buffet including fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, pancakes, fruit, juice, tea and coffee. Or build your own omelets with ham, bacon, sausage, cheeses, mushrooms, peppers and onions and homemade French toast.
Adults pay $8 for the regular buffet, $10 for the omelet. Children 6 to 12 can eat for $4 and children under 5 eat free.
Grafton Lakes State Park 30th Annual Winter Festival
The Grafton Lakes State Park and the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park will host the 30th Annual Winter Festival and Ice Fishing Contest on Saturday, January 24. The Winter Fest will feature outdoor events along with indoor exhibits, food vendors and family-friendly and recreational activities. The event is free of charge and main events run from 10 am to 4 pm.

Grafton Planning Board Action – No Clear Cutting

There were two public hearings held before the Grafton Planning Board regular meeting at 7 pm on Monday, December 15. The first one, at 6:40, concerned the Michael Longo minor subdivision at 132 North Shore Road; the second one, at 6:50, concerned the Kenneth Maxfield minor subdivision at 321 Jay Hakes Road.

Learn About Finding Music, Books And Movies Online At The Library
On Saturday, December 20, at 11 am, the Grafton Community Library will present a free, informative program about finding, downloading and organizing digital media, including music, books and movies. This class will help people rediscover old favorites, catch up on current trends and build their media library. All ages and abilities are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions. This class is part of the Library’s “Get Savvy about Computers” and is offered in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension. • December 23, Tuesday – Treasure Hunt at 10:30 am.
Use a treasure map to discover clues and search for signs of critters along this one mile exploration. If we succeed in finding all our clues, a treasure awaits. The cost is $2 per person or $5 per family. This is recommended for five to ten years olds, but younger siblings are welcome to tag along. This event will be held at the Shaver Pond Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton. Please pre-register by calling 279-1155.
• January 3, Saturday – Snowshoe Outing at 10 am.
Head out on the trail to enjoy some crisp winter air and try out snowshoes. Rentals are available with the program, but please call to reserve your spot. Pre-register at 279-1155. The cost is $2 per person.
• January 24, Saturday – 30th Annual Winter Festival
GLSP is celebrating 30 years of getting families and outdoor enthusiasts into the Park during this beautiful time of year. This will be a big one everyone! Let’s hope for ice on the lakes with plenty of snow, and we’ll provide fun for all. Ice fishing contest registration begins at 5:30 am. Main events are 10 am to 4 pm with exhibits open 11 am to 4pm. The Polar Plunge is at 1 pm – call us for pre-registration information.
Grafton Town Board Action – A Fight Over Vouchers

The Grafton Town Board meeting began with a presentation check given to the Board by elementary school student Abby Buckley (as well as the real check in an envelope) for $156.15. These were the proceeds of a bottle-return fundraiser she had undertaken with her brother Zachary and the rest of her family to raise funds to give to the Grafton Youth program. The Board commended her for her initiative and generosity.
