Village Primary Care and Martinez Family Practice have merged into a new partnership called Twin Rivers Medical, P.C., which opened on Monday morning April 3 at the family health center facility on Danforth Street in Hoosick Falls, which was closed by the Glens Falls Hospital on March 10. [private]The doctors working for the Glens Falls Hospital who worked at that facility until March 10 have relocated to another health center operated by the Glens Falls Hospital in Cambridge, NY.

In addition to Doctor James Carroll, Doctor Marcus Martinez, and Nurse Practitioner Melissa Rowe from the two merged practices, Dr. Allen Hutcheson is currently working two days a week. Practice administrator Rick Anair said there will be some physicians from the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center who will be helping out temporarily until the practice is up to speed. Anair said the plan is to have three doctors and three nurse practitioners working at the practice once it is fully staffed. The building will also house laboratory facilities run by Southwestern Vermont Health Care.
The former locations of Village Primary Care and Martinez Family Practice were closed as of Monday April 3, with signs posted directing patients to the new facility at 16 Danforth Street. Anair said it is challenging to merge two big practices like this, integrating staff, computer systems, and the like, but “spirits are high,” and all involved have great hopes for the new partnership. He said it’s difficult for some of the patients to adjust to the change in venue and the enlarged practice, and he said that he and the medical personnel at Twin Rivers Medical wanted to express their appreciation for everybody’s patience during the transitional period. The new phone number for Twin Rivers Medical is 518-686-5770. [/private]
