HF 11 – Stillwater 7

At Stillwater HS, April 24. HF O 4-4, L 4-3, Stillwater, L 3-4.

The Panthers scored five runs in the first and added two more in the second inning to get out to a seven run lead before the Warriors had a chance to get their feet under them. [private]The Warriors countered with one run in the third only to have the Panthers plate four more runs in the fourth (3 runs) and fifth (one run). The Warriors tried to make a game of it when they scored five runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh, but the Panthers early scoring put them in too much of a deficit to overcome. Freshman Max Kipp led the offense with a double, two singles and had four RBIs. Panther pitcher Ryan Sanders (3-1) helped his cause by hitting two singles, recording two RBIs and scoring twice. Stillwater pitcher Zack Travis took the loss. The Panthers had seven hits and four errors, the Warriors had eight hits and three errors.

HF 4 – Mt. Anthony 7

At HFCS, noon on April 20. HF O 3-3, L 3-4, Mt. Anthony O 1-1.

Hoosick Falls grabbed a two run lead in the bottom of the first inning only to have the Patriots erase that deficit and take a one run lead with three runs in the top of the third.

Mt. Anthony scored two more runs in both the fourth and fifth inning to pad the lead to 7-2. The Panthers tried to make a run on the Patriots by scoring one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, but in the end fell short. Brandon Decker (1-2) took the loss for the Panthers, while Brian Grace (1-0) got the win for the Patriots. Cody Hodges had a RBI single and scored a run, Jordan Case rapped a triple and scored twice for the Panthers. The Panthers had three hits and four errors, while the Patriots had nine hits and two errors.

Softball

On a beautiful day for softball, the Lady Panthers (3-1) traveled to Stillwater to play a rare doubleheader.  The Ladies brought two victories home, winning both games.

HF 3, Stillwater 1

In the first game, freshman pitcher Abby Philpott had nine strikeouts and Maddy Atherton had a two RBI single to grab the win.

HF 6, Stillwater 1

In the second game, pitcher Abby Philpott helped her team get the win by allowing the Warriors a single run from the mound and hitting a double and a single at the plate. Senior third baseman Sydney Miller had three RBIs with a single and a home run. [/private]
