A serious car accident occurred on Saturday afternoon, January 21 on Route 22, near North Petersburgh.[private] The collision resulted in a male being transported by helicopter to the Albany Medical Center for what was described as very serious injuries, mostly to the lower body.
A woman in the other vehicle was taken to Troy’s Samaritan Hospital by the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad for chest injuries, which State Police say were less serious. The landing site for Life Net was set up at the Hoosac School for the male driver, after a prolonged extrication requiring the jaws of life. Bennington Rescue also responded with the Petersburgh Volunteer Ambulance for advance life support. Petersburgh transported the victim to the landing site. At press time, troopers say the accident remains under investigation, and have not as yet released what caused the crash. [/private]
