The Petersburgh Public Library invites everyone to join us on Tuesday, April 5 any time between 3 and 5:30 pm for adults and older youth to color at the library. All supplies will be provided. As CNN reported, coloring books are no longer just for the kids. In fact, adult coloring books are all the rage right now. [private]And while researchers and art therapists alike have touted the calming benefits for over a decade, it’s childhood favorite Crayola that’s gotten adult coloring books some serious grown-up attention. This hobby has now grown into a full-on trend, with everyone from researchers at Johns Hopkins University to the editors of Yoga Journal suggesting coloring as an alternative to meditation.
The library is participating in a grant which gives us an opportunity to have a 3D printer at the library. There will be demonstrations on Monday April 25 from 2 to 5 pm, Wednesday April 27 from 3 to 6 pm and on Saturday April 30 from 9:30 am to noon. During the times listed you can come watch a demonstration of a 3-D printer and the plastic creation(s) it can produce. If you are interested in making your own creation you can call the library at 658-2927 to set up a specific time that you can do so. The library will have someone here who can help run the printer.
Preschool story hour continues on Tuesday mornings at 11 am for all preschoolers and their caregivers. Everyone who enjoys knitting is invited to come to the knitting group which meets Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5 pm. You are welcome to come to any portion of that time and learn to knit, get help with a knitting project or just enjoy knitting with fellow knitters.
The next book discussion is on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 pm when the book “Little Bee” by Chris Cleave will be discussed. Everyone is invited to attend and copies of the book are available at the library.[/private]
