The Petersburgh Planning Board held their first meeting of the year on January 25, where they resolved to keep all the same officers and appointees as last year. Frank Sheldon will be Chairman again, assisted by Vice Chairman Tim Church. [private]Dennis King was appointed as the Planning Board Attorney again, and Lance Yerdon and Peak Engineering as the Board’s engineering consultant. Chelsea Jordan will continue as Planning Board Secretary. The Board adopted the same schedule of fees as last year.
Petersburgh Town Supervisor Peter Schaaphok attended the meeting. He said a question had been raised about whether the founding legislation for the Planning Board had been properly done. He said he had searched the records and found the document creating the Planning Board, and found that the Planning Board had indeed been legally constituted. It was from November 1, 1967. The original members of the Planning Board at that time were Leyton Hewitt, Robert Higgins, Paul Green, Henry Allen, Edward Fitzgerald, Gordon O’Dell and Vern O’Dell. Schaaphok also noted that a resolution had been passed a few years ago waiving the requirement for Planning Board members to get training (apparently because it is hard enough to get people to serve on the Planning Board even without a training requirement).
One of the Planning Board’s major accomplishments in 2015 was to complete and adopt new regulations for manufactured homes. They are now working on revising the regulations for Site Plan Review, to make them compatible with both the subdivision regulations and the new manufactured home regulations, and they hope to have a draft ready for Town Board consideration within a few months.[/private]
