At the start of its meeting on December 15 the Town of Hoosick Planning Board passed two resolutions. The first approved the Hoosick Falls Central School Solar Panels project on the Wysocki farm, and the second disapproved the Hathaway’s Drive In request for an additional screen.
[private]Hathaway’s
Duane Greenawalt came before the Board with a new plan for Hathaway’s Drive In. Board Attorney Denis King told the Board that under the new Town Law that was passed at the last Town Board meeting, the Planning Board no longer handles site plan reviews for special use permit requests. Special use permits are handled by the Zoning Board of Appeals. The ZBA will now also handle the site plan review. Greenawalt was referred to the Zoning Board.
The Planning Board will still handle site plan reviews for projects that do not require a special use permit from the Zoning Board.
Brimmer Farm
Bill Johnston represented Jim Dunigan, who recused himself from the Board, for one more discussion on the Brimmer Farm 13.48 acre four lot major subdivision on Route 22. The Board reviewed the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and found no issues. They then declared the application complete. A Public Hearing on the subdivision will be held at the start of the January meeting.
Stellar
Howard Stellar appeared before the Board to inquire about converting a building on Route 22 from a restaurant to a 24 foot by 40 foot living space with a small business space in the front. He has not filed an application yet but was looking for the particulars to do so.
Benkoski
Stan Kenkunis addressed the Board on behalf of William Benkoski, who owns three and a half acres on Beechwood Road. Benkoski wants to give one and a half acres to his son. The property has been surveyed, and Kenkunis presented the Board with a map showing where access would be put in. Since Benkoski had appeared before the Board previously in regard to this request, the Board declared it a two lot simple subdivision.
Workshop Meeting
New Board Member Gary Kjelgaard asked if a special meeting could be held for Board members to familiarize themselves with the Town’s new law. Daryl Cipperly said a joint Planning, Zoning and Town Boards meeting had been held previously, and it was very productive. Planning Board Chairman Jim Dunigan said he would contact Town Supervisor Mark Surdam about setting up a meeting.
Meeting Date Changed
Because of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday the January meeting of the Planning Board will be held on Monday, January 26. The meeting will begin at 7:30 pm.[/private]
