The seniors are taking part in a pilot program between TVHS, Questar III and Capital Region BOCES in which some TVHS seniors are taking half day programs through the New Visions program. Since September, the four TVHS seniors have been  enrolled in the Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) Program offered by Questar at the Rensselaer Educational Center.

With the launch of “clinicals” on Monday, the seniors will now spend about six hours a week working with patients at Van Rensselaer Manor, a skilled nursing facility in Troy.

“I’m excited. I am really looking forward to it,” said Layla Faulkner, a TVHS senior from Berlin.

Thomas Gamsjager, who attends TVHS from Greenville, concurred. “I am looking forward to putting the skills I have learned to use,” he said.

Besides Faulkner and Gamsjager, Totia Harris of Troy and Josey Bartholomew of New Lebanon are enrolled in the program.
