According to Hoosick Falls Fire Chief Robert Bornt the two family house on Center Street was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived three minutes after the call came in at 2:50 am on Friday, January 24. The Hoosick Falls Police Department was already on the scene, a minute ahead of the Fire Department. “There were two families in the house and everyone got out safely,” said Bornt. The family dog was not so fortunate.
[private]Bornt said the fire was knocked down, except for a few hot spots, by 6 am. The house was totally gutted and what remained standing was a hazard. By Friday afternoon it had been knocked down.

Besides the Hoosick Falls Fire Department, companies from North Hoosick, Hoosick, West Hoosick, Buskirk, Pittstown, Cambridge and North Bennington, VT, responded. Also on site was the Cambridge Valley and Town of Hoosick Rescue Squads and FAST teams from Johnsonville and Greenwich. Meanwhile White Creek was on standby for North Hoosick, and Petersburgh was on standby for Hoosick. The cause of the fire is being investigated by Schodack and New York State fire investigators.
