Mike Clement of East Nassau was on his way to work early Saturday morning when something big came crashing through his windshield.
“The car just stopped!” said Clement, a breakfast chef at the chic yoga retreat, Kripalu, in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. One second he was doing 55 mph on Route 20 just east of Lebanon Valley Speedway and the next second Clement’s car, a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, was dead on the highway. There was now a large hole where the windscreen had been and for some reason the steering wheel was bent.

Town Of Hoosick Pays Armory Rent

After posting the proper notice, Hoosick Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly held a Special Board Meeting on Monday, June 17, at 3:30 pm.
The Supervisor introduced Resolution Number 48 of 2013 authorizing the payment of rent to HAYC3. The resolution reads that as the Town of Hoosick and HAYC3 are close to finalizing the terms of a lease agreement for the use of Town office space in the Armory for a monthly rent of $1,500, the Town agrees to continue to pay rent for the occupied space until a lease agreement is final.

No Complaints About Petersburgh Roads

Petersburgh Supervisor Siegfried Krahforst and Highway Superintendent Ray Harrison held a meeting on Saturday, June 22, to allow anyone who had complaints about the Town’s roads to air them.
There were no complaints. Citizens present, other than the administration and this reporter, were Terry Neaton, Peter Schaaphok and Gene Kluck.

Congratulations to the Hoosick Falls Class of 2013

Perfect weather highlighted the three days of HFCS graduation activities, followed by a perfect weather weekend for parties. Considerable rain earlier, however, soddened the athletic field where graduation guests ordinarily park. Many of them had the unique opportunity of parking at Tops Family Market and arriving at graduation ceremonies in a school bus. Those who needed assistance were then driven by golf cart to their seats.

Local Students Graduate From Tech Valley High School
Twenty-nine students from across the Tech Valley Region closed one chapter of their learning careers Saturday, June 15, as they graduated from Tech Valley High School. But for all of the graduates, the next chapter of learning is right around the corner as 93 percent of the class is heading on to college and the remaining two students are enlisting in the United States Air Force to pursue careers as officers and pilots.

Local Historian Named Grand Marshal Of Berlin July 4th Parade

The Berlin July 4th Parade Committee is pleased to announce that Sharon Klein, Berlin native and Town Historian, has been chosen as Grand Marshal for this year’s Independence Day parade to be held on Thursday, July 4, at 11 am. Sharon is a Charter Member of the Taconic Valley Historical Society, founded in 1973, having served as President and numerous times as Secretary. She is currently Historian for the Town of Berlin, a post she has held since January 1997.

Berlin Town Board Action – The Rest Of The Story

After dogs, permits and zoning were discussed at the Berlin Town Board meeting on June 13 the rest of the meeting consisted mainly of reports.
Water, Water Everywhere
Len Clapp, Supervisor of Water District #1, the seasonal water system in the Taborton Mountain area of Berlin, reported that a lightning strike had knocked out the system. It destroyed the pump controller which was repaired by Hanson Well Drilling for $1,314. Clapp reported that the system was now “up and running.”
