Lace Up For A Cure Raises $2,800 For Cancer – 128 Participate In Races

Gretchen Yonconish, Katie DiMaggio and Charity King had so much fun at the Freihofer’s Run for Women they decided to put on a race of their own to raise money for Relay for Life. Former Berlin Bank Of America Goes On Auction Block

The former Bank of America bank building in Berlin will go on the auction block on May 22 at 11 am. According to Norman Zimmer, Director of Operations at Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Company, there will be no minimum bid. It’s an Absolute Auction, and the property will be sold regardless of price. The price starts at whatever the floor opens at, Zimmer said.

Statewide Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Drive

When most people hear the fire siren go off in Hoosick Falls they are only slightly curious as to where the fire or accident is that caused the alarm. For 30 or so dedicated people the siren means leaving the dinner table or a warm bed or a special event and heading for the firehouse. The Hoosick Falls Fire Department is looking for another ten men and women to sacrifice time from family to be part of a volunteer organization that has been active in the Village for more than 165 years.

BCS Budget Stalled

With only a few days remaining for the Berlin Central School District to approve a 2013-2014 budget, the Board of Education failed to agree on the latest draft budget at Tuesday’s meeting and will now reconvene Thursday for last minute discussions.
