On Friday, October 12, various members of the local emergency squads and departments, Berlin, Grafton, Petersburgh and Stephentown, visited Berlin Elementary School for Fire Prevention Week. The theme this year was “Have Two Ways Out.” [private]The volunteers presented two assemblies to the kindergarten through fifth grade students. The firefighters reviewed the importance of having an exit plan and a meeting place in case of a fire. They also demonstrated their equipment and gave a few students the opportunity to suit up in gear. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate to allow for the students to visit the emergency apparatus due to rain showers. Pre-k students had taken a walking tour to the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company the previous day. A big thank you to our local emergency responders!
