Putting America’s Watersheds in FOCUS, a seven city educational tour, is coming to Berlin and Troy, on September 7 and 8. The centerpiece of the tour is the Wyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Experience, a 1,000 square foot interactive exhibit on wheels, solely dedicated to demonstrating the many ways water shapes our lives – and how our lives are shaped by it. [private]The exhibit uses models to explore the nature of watersheds – the movement of water in bounded hydrologic systems – via rain over a city landscape, a running river, computer model simulations and a 40 person onboard multi-sensory theater. The tour is presented by the US Forest Service and the Wyland Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by renowned artist and environmentalist Wyland, with transportation support from National Van Lines.
On September 7 the exhibit will be hosted by the Berlin MS/HS from 8 am to 2 pm for classes to tour through all day. In addition to Berlin ES/MS/HS classes, Hancock Elementary School and Hoosick Falls and New Lebanon schools have been invited to take a field trip to the site.
On September 8 the exhibit will be in Troy, hosted by RPI’s EcoEd Research group and located in the North Lot of RPI’s campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public at both locations and is particularly suited for families and children in grades 3-8.
