Friday, May 4, was the third annual kindergarten Trike-A-Thon at Hoosick Falls Central School. The morning started with a New York State Trooper visiting the kindergarten classes to teach them about bicycle safety and discuss the importance of always wearing their helmets when riding their bikes.
[private]The Trike-A-Thon followed, in which all of the kindergarten students rode trikes, bikes, scooters and other fancy ride-on vehicles for an entire hour around the gym. Prior to the event, students received pledges for them to participate in this event. A total of $1,800 was raised and will be donated to The Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center.
Thanks to the generosity of some local community organizations, each of the kindergarten students were given a new helmet to wear during this event and to take home to make sure they always have a helmet to wear when riding their bikes. Many thanks to the Hoosick Falls PTA, Thorpe’s Pharmacy, K-Kids, the Lions Club and the Kiwanis Club for making these bicycle donations possible.
