The Parnas sisters of Stephentown, Madalyn (l) and Cicely pose with pianist and photographer Christian
Steiner following their concert at Tannery Pond on Saturday evening. The girls appreciated the wonderful acoustics of the Tannery Pond barn, and it’s an understatement to say that the audience appreciated their stunning musical wizardry.
Steiner, who is also producer and Artistic Director of the Tannery Pond Concerts, accompanied the girls in three quite different works. First Madalyn played her 1687 Gioffredo Capa violin in the Beethoven “Spring” Sonata. That was followed by the Sonata in D minor by Dmitri Shostakovich with Cicely playing cello. Both girls were on stage following an intermission for the final piece, Anton Arensky’s Trio No. 1 in D minor. The standing ovation at the end of the concert was well deserved.
Both Madalyn, 18, and Cicely, 16, are now attending the College of St. Rose. Cicely is, not surprisingly, a music major, and Madalyn majors in Music Industry. They also study German and French respectively at Siena College.
