Once Again
To the Editor:
I am writing, once again, in support of Neil Gardner. My first letter to the editor (a letter that I did indeed write myself) was my immediate response to the news of Neil’s conviction. I was, and still am, shocked by the thought that someone so generous and highly regarded could be facing such a horrible circumstance.
I wrote that letter in order to foster support for Neil; I knew that the overwhelming sentiment of our townspeople would give rise to an outcry of encouragement and munificence in Mr. Gardner’s favor. And judging by the recent content of the Eastwick Press, it has! Letters have poured in for Neil, and the majority of them prove that Stephentown wants this conviction lifted and his record cleared.
I, my mother and other supporters are not looking to disrespect or cause offense to anyone. We write only to express our concern and hope that our voices will be heard. The ruling against Neil was based on evidence absent this public sentiment. We can only hope, now, that our feelings will be taken into account. My wish is that more letters will be written and the evidence of our support for Neil will become so clear that it cannot be ignored.
Thank you,
Alysia Parisi
