Old Bridges Just Fade Away

While traffic moved swiftly over the new completed bridge on Route 7 in Hoosick, work was progressing nearby on removing the old bridge. On Tuesday the remaining deck truss of the old bridge was being dismantled to be placed in truck containers to be hauled away, sold for scrap and recycled. Work was delayed while the wheels were put back into the track of a backhoe seen here. When all the work is completed, including removal of the concrete pilings and footings, the area will be restored, and it will be as if the former bridge never existed. (Bea Peterson)
