The Chris Gibson for Congress campaign will come to eastern Rensselaer County with the 20th Congressional District candidate hosting a Town Hall-style event in Grafton.
The Gibson In Your Corner event will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall on South Road, just off Route 2 in Grafton at 7 pm  on Monday, August 16. Residents are encouraged to attend to hear Gibson discuss issues facing the nation and the 20th Congressional District.
The Grafton event is one of a series of Town Hall events being held by Gibson throughout the 20th Congressional District.
“I am looking forward to visiting Rensselaer County once again and discussing the issues facing our country. Like so many, I am concerned about the amount of spending in Washington, spiraling debt and the lack of progress by Washington on the issues that are important to us,” said Gibson.
Gibson drew a packed house at a May 22 volunteer rally at the Brunswick Elks. Since that event, Gibson’s campaign has gained major momentum, with a strong fund raising quarter that saw Gibson raise more funds than the incumbent and the filing of over 17,000 signatures on designating petitions, more than twice the amount filed by the incumbent.
The strength of the Gibson effort and the wide grassroots support for his candidacy recently resulted in the New York Times upgrading Gibson’s chances of election. The Times now considers the race between incumbent Congressman Democrat Scott Murphy and Republican candidate Chris Gibson a toss up.
Gibson is a native of Kinderhook, Columbia County, who rose to the rank of Colonel during a distinguished 24-year career in the U.S. Army and seven deployments that included four combat tours of Iraq and a humanitarian mission to Haiti following the earthquake earlier this year. A graduate of Siena College, Gibson also earned a Master’s and Doctorate from Cornell University, taught at West Point and authored the book Securing the State.

  1. Lizziebzmom says:

Chris Gibson, at last a candidate with the qualifications and values needed for the job. I encourage everyone to visit chrisgibsonforcongress.com website and see Chris’s position on the issues. Then you will also see why we need to vote for Chris Gibson in November. After Murphy was voted in (by a very narrow margin, I must add) he then proceeded to ignore his constituents and vote as Pelosi, Reid and, of course, Obama instucted him to do. We need to begin to take back our government one candidate at a time.

  2. I admire this mans credentials, however the last representative of this seat from this party was the laughing example of the dysfunction representative nationaly of our district. Iam hopeful, but skeptical of his backers in this district. I dont forget or forgive easily with my one vote any more.
