On Saturday December 20, Norma Brenenstuhl, on behalf of Marilyn Hensel, Trust Officer of the Harry Weir Trust Fund at Key Private Bank, presented funds to several community organizations. The total amount awarded during a brief ceremony at the Cheney Free Library was $10,500.
Weir was a civic and business leader throughout the Hoosick area and benefactor of the Hoosick Town Pool. At his death in 1963 he left many bequests to local organizations. The remainder of his money was set up as a trust fund. The interest from that fund is annually distributed to local organizations. Funds this year were about $1,500 less than last year.
This year’s fund recipients were: Cheney Free Library, Hoosick Township Historical Society, Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad, North Hoosick Fire Department, Hoosick Falls Cemetery Association, Hoosick Falls Health Center, Hoosick Area Food Closet, Hoosick Falls Community Band, Fourth Ward Playground, Girl Scout Troop Neighborhood Program, Boy Scout Troop 63, Rural Rensselaer County Health and Human Services, St. Mary’s Odyssey of the Mind Program.
